Springbank Park stretches alongside the Thames River, with a total area of 300 acres, making it London’s largest park. It includes 30 km of paths for made for walking, running, biking, rollerblading, etc. The park is a great place for picnics, fishing, family events and more. It is also the location of Storybook Gardens, an attraction with a nursery rhyme theme that provides an excellent place parents to bring their children for a day of fun.
Historically Springbank Park had been home to Wonderland Gardens, which was made in the early 1930s by the Jones family. There was a bandshell and a dance floor that were used for multiple events and festivals. After a devastating fire in 2005, the bandshell and dance hall were severely damaged.
After the fire, the City of London has decided to restore Wonderland Gardens, renaming it Springbank Gardens. The new site will include an open-air pavilion and food concession, rerouting of the Thames Valley Pathway through the Gardens, a commemorative garden for music and heritage, and much more.
