As one of North America’s leading universities, UWO fits perfectly into the London, Ontario atmosphere. It was founded in 1878 by Bishop Isaac Hellmuth, and stretches across 1.6km2 with 75 buildings, not including it’s affiliate schools, Brescia, Huron and King’s. The university’s chancellor is Arthur Labatt and it’s ninth and current president is Dr. Paul Davenport. The university offers more than 200 degree and diploma programs, and continues to grow.

UCC
The University Community Centre houses a gymnasium, movie theatre, mini-mall, cafeteria, lounge and bar “The Spoke”, restaurant “The Wave”, indoor-pool and more.

Affiliate Schools
Brescia – this affiliate school is Canada’s only university-level women’s college. The main departments include English, Food and Nutrition, Modern Languages, Religious Studies, Philosophy, and Social Sciences.
Huron – this university-college currently contains more than 1000 full-time students and specializes in Theology
King’s – this institute enrolls more than 3,500 students both full-time and part-time and offers an array of degrees ranging from business, social-justice & peace studies, English, philosophy and more.

Groups
Western is home to more than 175 clubs that range from cultural and academic to recreational and religious, all of which are student-created and student-run.

UWO has one of Canada’s largest research libraries with more than 7.7 million items in it’s collection. There are multiple facilities which constitute its library, including the following:

Sports and Recreation
With over 20 different sports teams, who go by the name “The University of Western Ontario Mustangs” with an appropriate appendix. The Western football team can be seen playing at the TD Waterhouse Stadium.
